Huang Leadership Development Scholarship
a fund of Silicon Valley Community Foundation
Bob and Lily Huang and SYNNEX Corporation are proud to present the Huang Leadership Development Scholarship, an educational opportunity for the valued employees of SYNNEX Corporation–past and present–and their families.
Bob and Lily's leadership and vision laid the groundwork for SYNNEX with the company's founding in 1980. Bob served as SYNNEX's President and CEO from the corporation's inception until November 30, 2008. He retired as Chairman of the Board of Directors on June 21, 2010. During his 30-year tenure leading SYNNEX, he grew the company to $8 billion in annual revenue and achieved a top 300 ranking in the Fortune 500 company.
Mr. Huang holds a bachelor's in electrical engineering from Kyushu University, Fukuoka, Japan, a master's in electrical engineering and statistics from the University of Rochester, NY, a master's in management science from the Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an honorary doctorate degree from Kyushu University. He was elected by Computer Reseller News as one of the 25 most influential executives in computer industries and inducted to CRN's Industry Hall of Fame in November of 2004. Mr. Huang serves on the Advisory Board of Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is a Kyushu Fellow, and contributed to the founding of Kyushu University Robert T. Huang Entrepreneurship Center (QREC).
Throughout his life, Bob has been a teacher and a mentor to the many associates with whom he has worked and come into contact. Over the years, as he built his business into the success story it became, he has shepherded the career ambitions of countless others. Bob and Lily Huang wish to continue this rich legacy by improving the lives of those seeking to better themselves through higher education, and become leaders and mentors in their own right.
The Huang Leadership Development Scholarship Fund was established through a generous gift from Bob and Lily Huang. Since 2011, the Huang Leadership Development Scholarship program has awarded 67 scholarships totaling $443,500. SYNNEX Corporation also contributes to the Fund, which awards eligible candidates, scholarships of up to $10,000 each year.
